Legislation
The Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee (RTIRC) is established by the Telecommunications (Consumer Protection and Services Standards) Act 1999.
The legislation requires that the first RTIRC review will begin before the end of December 2008. In the event the review is commenced earlier than 31 December 2008, the legislation requires a written determination specifying an earlier commencement date.
In accordance with this requirement, the Australian Government made a written determination specifying a start date for the current review of 13 August 2007. This determination the Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee (First Review Starting Date) Determination (No.1) 2007 was registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on 10 August 2007.
