Public consultation is an important part of the Regional Telecommunications Review. The Committee is required to consult publicly under its establishing laws and Terms of Reference.

Issues Paper

Interested individuals, communities and organisations have an opportunity to participate by providing a response to the 2021 Regional Telecommunications Review Issues Paper.

The Issues Paper sets out the key areas of interest for the Review and a number of questions you can use to develop your response.

The Issues Paper and the process for submission are available on the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications’ Have Your Say page.

You can also email your views or any questions about the Review to secretariat@rtirc.gov.au.

The Committee will give appropriate consideration to the confidentiality and privacy of material provided to it, but it is important to make clear if material is considered to be confidential.

Upcoming public consultations

From late July 2021, the Committee will undertake consultation with many communities across regional, rural and remote Australia, giving people the opportunity to discuss views and experiences with the Committee first hand.

Due regard has been given to COVID-19 safety precautions and restrictions in planning consultations, and as such some consultations will need to be a virtual forum for residents of the area. This also provides an option for people who may not have previously been able to attend the in-person consultation to share their views and experiences.

The virtual forums can be accessed through Microsoft Teams on your internet browser (Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are recommended), on the Microsoft Teams app, or you can dial in to the meeting via telephone.

Anyone who wants to have their say on regional telecommunications services is encouraged to register their attendance for a public consultation using the links below. Please note that you may be required to make an Eventbrite account in order to register for and access events.
